6-day Marrakech desert tour and Camel Trek program

1st day: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben haddou – Ouarzazate

Departure at 9 am from your hotel or riad in Marrakech to cross the mountains of the High Atlas. After the port of Tichka, the main road is abandoned and a detour is taken towards the Kasbah of Telouet, which belonged to the Lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family, and which is now in ruins after the last Pasha fled the country, following the departure of the French. From there, we continue to lunch in Ait Ben Haddou by the newly paved connecting road. This is the most famous Kasbah in Morocco, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, which we will visit after lunch. After visiting the Kasbah, continue to see another famous in the area, the Kasbah Taourirte. In Ouarzazate you spend the night in a riad.

2nd day: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Rose Valley – Kalaa Mgouna – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges

After breakfast, we will leave for the gorges of the Dades, passing by the oasis of Skoura, where numerous ancient kasbahs, some sadly in ruins, are raised among the palm trees. From here, our route takes us through Kela'a M'gouna, the Valley of the Roses, famous for its Rose Festival in May. Here we stop to see the local cosmetics made from the valley’s abundant flowers. These products are well known throughout Morocco and highly appreciated. From here, take a trail to get a better impression of the landscape. On the way, we will stop at caves, used by any Berber nomads who pass through there and claim their residence. We will have a tea with them before continuing to the Gorges of Dades for lunch. The journey continues within walking distance of Tinghir and the very different gorges of Toudgha, where you spend the night in a hotel or a Kasbah.

3rd day: Todra Gorge – Tingdad – Arfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, there are opportunities for strolling either along the river through the gardens or up the road to the other side of the gorges. Lunch will be here or later at the Erg Chebbi dune bivouac. You arrive by passing the oasis of Tafilalet, near Erfoud, famous for its Date Festival, and Rissani, seat of the Alaouite family of the current king of Morocco. At the bivouac you will be greeted with a glass of tea before taking a camel ride to watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. Later, dinner and night in a nomad tent at the foot of the dunes.

4th day: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes

After breakfast, you will take the camels, on horseback or on foot, as they carry everything necessary to cook your lunch, which will be prepared in the dunes by your camel driver. You will walk for about three hours in the morning (optional time to ride and camel), followed by another three hours in the afternoon, returning to the bivouac for dinner and overnight.

5th day: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Nkoub – Draa Valley – Agdez

If you wake up early, you can enjoy the spectacle of sunrise, when the color of the dunes and the play of shadows are a breathtaking spectacle. The route continues towards the Dra'a valley, passing through the village of Tazzarine, until you reach Nkoub for lunch. In the afternoon, the trip takes us to Tansikht to tour the ancient caravan route and discover the authentic valley of Dra'a, with its huge palm trees and old villages. In the late afternoon, we will stop at Agdez to spend the night in a kasbah.
