ITINERARY OF THE 8-DAYS MARRAKECH DESERT TOUR
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN MARRAKECH & CITY EXPLORATION
Welcome to Morocco! Upon your arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, your driver from Morocco Desert Touring will greet you and transfer you to your accommodation. Spend your afternoon wandering through the vibrant Djemaa El-Fna square, a UNESCO World Heritage site bustling with storytellers, musicians, and food stalls. You can also explore Marrakech’s colorful souks or relax in a traditional café as you soak up the lively atmosphere.

DAY 2: MARRAKECH → AIT BEN HADDOU → OUARZAZATE → DADES GORGE
After breakfast, travel over the scenic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Stop at the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, a historic kasbah that has appeared in many famous films. Continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” with the option to visit Atlas Film Studios. In the afternoon, drive through the Valley of Roses to Dades Gorge. Overnight in a comfortable hotel overlooking the stunning landscape.

DAY 3: DADES GORGE → TODRA GORGE → MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast, visit Todra Gorge and walk between its impressive canyon walls. If it’s market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), stop at Rissani’s traditional market. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon for a camel trek into the Sahara Desert. Watch the sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes before arriving at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner and Berber music under the starry sky.

DAY 4: FULL DAY IN MERZOUGA DESERT
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. Spend the day exploring the desert by 4×4 vehicle. Visit a nomad family, the Gnawa music village of Khamlia, and the seasonal Merzouga lake. Relax in the afternoon or take another camel ride at sunset. Experience the peacefulness of the desert and enjoy your second night in the camp.

DAY 5: MERZOUGA → ZIZ VALLEY → MID-ATLAS → FES
After breakfast, leave the desert behind and drive through the scenic Ziz Valley. Pass through Midelt and cedar forests near Azrou, where you might see Barbary apes. Stop in Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland,” before arriving in Fes late in the afternoon.

DAY 6: FES CITY TOUR
Spend a full day with a local guide exploring Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city. Visit the Royal Palace gates, medieval medina, Al-Qarawiyyin University, the famous tanneries, and the Jewish quarter (Mellah). Finish with panoramic views of the city from a nearby fortress before returning to your riad.
DAY 7: FES → VOLUBILIS → CHEFCHAOUEN
After breakfast, drive to Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Roman ruin with remarkable mosaics. Then continue to the charming blue city of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. Spend your afternoon wandering the picturesque blue streets and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.

DAY 8: CHEFCHAOUEN → RABAT → CASABLANCA (DEPARTURE)
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Chefchaouen before traveling to Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. Visit the Hassan Tower and Oudayas Kasbah. Continue to Casablanca, where you can visit the stunning Hassan II Mosque if time permits, before being transferred to Mohammed V International Airport for your departure.
